AskRami (the “Service”) is operated by Trilot LLC, a limited liability company formed in the State of Wyoming, United States (“Trilot”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use askrami.com, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you have questions, contact us at hello@askrami.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account information — when you sign up we collect your email address. We use a passwordless (“magic link”) login, so we do not collect or store a password.
- Question content — the questions you submit and any context or details you include.
- Payment information — when you pay for a priority answer, your payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the last four digits of your card and billing country. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers.
- Communications — any messages you send us by email or through the Service.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage and device data — such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies — strictly necessary cookies that keep you logged in and keep the Service secure. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Security data — we use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish humans from automated abuse, which may process limited technical signals from your browser.
2. How we use your information
We use personal information to: provide the Service (receive your questions, deliver answers, and maintain your account); process payments and issue refunds; send transactional messages such as confirmations and notifications when your answer is ready (via our email provider, Resend); operate, secure, and improve the Service and prevent fraud and abuse; comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations; and respond to your enquiries.
3. Publication of questions and answers
The Service has a free tier and a paid tier, which are treated differently:
- Paid answers are private. Questions submitted on the paid tier, and their answers, are not published.
- Free answers may be published anonymously. If you submit a free question, the question and its answer may be published in our public archive in anonymised form. We remove your name and account identifiers before publication, but you should not include personal, confidential, or identifying information in a free question if you do not want it to appear in the archive.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you request); our legitimate interests (to secure, operate, and improve the Service); your consent (where required); and compliance with legal obligations.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers (“sub-processors”) who process data on our behalf, including Clerk (authentication and account management), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email), and Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, DNS, and bot protection). Each processes personal information only as needed to provide its service to us.
- Legal and safety recipients — where required by law, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or asset sale.
6. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where we transfer personal information from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. We retain questions, answers, and transaction records for as long as required for our legitimate business purposes and to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your information; object to or restrict certain processing; receive a copy of your information in a portable format; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@askrami.com. We will respond as required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
